Take the risk of thinking for yourself, much more happiness, truth, beauty, and wisdom will come to you that way.

― Christopher Hitchens

Beware the irrational, however seductive. Shun the ‘transcendent’ and all who invite you to subordinate or annihilate yourself. Distrust compassion; prefer dignity for yourself and others. Don’t be afraid to be thought arrogant or selfish. Picture all experts as if they were mammals. Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. Seek out argument and disputation for their own sake; the grave will supply plenty of time for silence. Suspect your own motives, and all excuses. Do not live for others any more than you would expect others to live for you.

Life as a skeptic, more difficult?

There are people I know that take things for face value. They do not have the need to question, to ask about resources, data, and studies completed to back up what they are being told.It can be overwhelming to some when they are put in a position to answer these questions about their said beliefs.

I just cannot imagine accepting anything at face value, not asking how they know this information or why they believe what they do. Being skeptical is not a negative thing, it’s how new opportunities to improve life as we know it are made.
